IAAPA Expo Europe 2025 has successfully wrapped up in Spain, bringing five days of education, networking, and innovation to a close.

Held from September 22-26 at the Fira Barcelona Gran Via, the premier European event for leisure and attractions professionals, organised by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA), reaffirmed its status as a key industry gathering.

This year’s expo saw impressive numbers, with almost 16000 verified attendees from across the globe. The bustling trade show floor, spanning 20,700 square meters, hosted more than 700 exhibitors showcasing the latest products and services. A total of 11,477 qualified buyers, representing 9,370 buying companies from 121 countries, were present to explore new opportunities and innovations for their venues, which included theme parks, water parks, FECs, zoos, aquariums, and museums.

“IAAPA Expo Europe continues to serve as a vital meeting point for our industry, bringing together passionate professionals to share knowledge, explore trends, and build lifelong connections,” said Peter van der Schans, executive director and VP for IAAPA EMEA. “We are proud to have seen the industry come together once again in Barcelona.”

Beyond the trade show, the event provided extensive learning opportunities. The educational program featured over 60 EDUSessions led by industry experts, covering critical topics such as sustainability, guest experience, safety, and technology. Attendees also had the chance to go behind the scenes with EDUTours to PortAventura World, Water World, and MSC cruise lines, gaining firsthand insights into their operational and guest engagement strategies

A bright future

The expo was also a hub for major industry news. Among the standout moments were the announcement of a new Vekoma family coaster coming to Karls Erlebnisdorf and the reveal of a brand-new theme park, Avonturenpark de Tovertuin, set to open in the Netherlands in 2026 through a partnership between Van Hoorne Studios, Themics Philippines Inc., and Petro Art Production.

The event generated significant media attention, with IAAPA’s onsite Press Office hosting over 100 journalists and securing coverage in major outlets like La Vanguardia, EFE Agency, and ABC TV.

The expo also highlighted the industry’s community spirit, with activities like a unique game activation by H.B. Leisure helping to raise funds and awareness for the IAAPA Foundation.

As the industry looks to the future, IAAPA has already announced its next European event. IAAPA Expo Europe 2026 will take place in the UK’s capital, London, from September 21-25 2026, continuing its tradition of uniting the international attractions community.

Earlier this week, IAAPA announced its new global board of directors for 2026, including a revered lineup of industry professionals from around the world.
