Alton Towers Resort has announced further information about the world’s first roller coaster to be based on the global hit animated series Bluey.
Scheduled to open in Spring 2026, the new addition to CBeebies Land will be titled Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies!.
The announcement marks a significant expansion of the partnership between Merlin Entertainments and BBC Studios, further solidifying the resort’s position as a primary theme park destination for families in the UK.
New conceptual images released by the resort provide a first look at the coaster’s ride vehicle and scenic design. The coaster will feature Bluey and her younger sister, Bingo, dressed as the “Grannies” (Janet and Rita).
The theme is derived from a specific, Emmy Award-winning episode of the Ludo Studio-produced series. The narrative of the attraction will centre on the characters’ alter egos, known for their chaotic driving, dance moves, and mischievous energy. The ride aims to simulate the experience of the Grannies’ playtime antics for young guests. Bluey is currently rated as the number one title on CBeebies, based on watchtime.
The resort has confirmed plans to introduce additional Bluey-themed rooms at the CBeebies Land Hotel. This accommodation expansion sits alongside existing in-park experiences, including the Big Fun Showtime live stage show and character meet-and-greets with the Heeler family (Chilli, Bandit, Bluey, and Bingo).
Bringing limitless energy
Leadership from both the resort and the IP holder emphasised the strategic importance of bringing the distinct energy of the show’s characters to a physical attraction format.
Howard Ebison, Vice President of Alton Towers Resort, commented on the operational excitement surrounding the launch:
