The world’s most famous theme park has reached an admission milestone this week.

As the Californian site continues its planned events for its seventh decade of operation, one visiting family found themselves the unexpected focus of the festivities at Disneyland park in Anaheim.

On July 3, 2026, the theme park officially welcomed its one billionth guest. The visitor who crossed this numeric threshold was Andres Robles, a tourist visiting from Arizona who was at the property to celebrate his eighth birthday. Alongside his parents, Alejandra and Jose Robles, the family was intercepted upon entry and guided to the Main Street U.S.A. train station platform.

They were met there by company mascots Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse for a short presentation. During this event, the Robles family helped reveal a newly updated sign within Disneyland Park displaying a population count of 1,000,000,000.

Exclusive access

Following the morning presentation, the family was provided with a dedicated VIP tour guide to accompany them throughout the day. This guided experience included exclusive access to the private apartment originally built for Walt Disney. Furthermore, the group was granted priority access to the newly launched attraction, Soarin’ Across America, alongside other experiences typical of a visit to the site.

This visitor achievement arrives as the destination marks its 70th Celebration. The original site opened to the public on July 17, 1955, launching an operating model that relies heavily on immersive themes and family-focused entertainment. The location initially operated as a single park but has expanded over the decades into a vast complex.

Today, the California property features two distinct theme parks: the original Disneyland Park and the adjacent Disney California Adventure Park. The wider estate also includes a dining, entertainment, and shopping complex known as the Downtown Disney District, as well as three hotel properties. These accommodation options consist of Pixar Place Hotel, alongside two AAA Four Diamond-rated properties, namely Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and the Disneyland Hotel.

Management perspective

Jill Estorino, the current President of Disneyland Resort, commented on the visitor figures and the operational longevity of the site.

“Welcoming our one billionth guest is a remarkable milestone for Disneyland Resort and a testament to the generations of guests who have made this special place part of their lives,” Estorino stated. “For more than 70 years, Walt’s original park has been a timeless symbol of Disney storytelling, where memories are made and shared, and we are honoured to carry that legacy forward for guests today and for generations to come.”.

The continuing development of the Anaheim site aligns with the original vision set out by the company founder. Walt Disney famously noted that the park would never be completed, stating it would continue to grow as long as imagination remained in the world. Today, the property remains open daily throughout the year, operating an admissions system that requires both valid tickets and advance park reservations for entry.
