Six Flags Entertainment Corporation is relocating its corporate headquarters from North Carolina to Texas in a move designed to consolidate its central operations.

Following an internal review, the operator has outlined plans to transfer its shared business functions and bring its leadership team closer to its regional parks.

The transition, which is expected to conclude by March 2027, will see the primary hub for corporate leadership and shared business functions moved to the company’s existing offices at Choctaw Stadium in Arlington. The venue has served as a corporate location since 2020 and already houses a portion of the operator’s workforce.

John Reilly, President and CEO of Six Flags, stated that the decision follows an extensive review process.

“The decision to return the Company’s headquarters to Arlington is a continuation of our efforts to evolve the organisation and enhance operational efficiency,” Reilly said. “After an extensive review, we determined that concentrating our personnel, processes, and decision-making in our Arlington office, where a portion of Six Flags corporate employees are located, is the best path forward for the Company.”

Reilly noted that bringing the corporate team together in one office aims to enhance collaboration across functions, improve coordination among executive leaders, and align the organisation around key strategic priorities.

The operator currently manages a portfolio of 34 parks and nine resorts across North America. Locating the central headquarters in the Dallas-Fort Worth area positions the leadership team closer to the five properties the company operates within Texas.

Historical ties

The Arlington location holds historical relevance for the operator, as the city is home to Six Flags Over Texas, the site where the brand originated more than six decades ago.

“The city sits at the heart of our five Texas parks and provides our leadership team with direct access to park operations and a regular on-the-ground presence,” Reilly continued. “We look forward to building on the strong capabilities we already have in place there, and capitalising on the vast talent pool in the Dallas-Fort Worth area as we advance our strategic growth plans.”

The move aligns with recent local investments. Earlier this summer, Six Flags Over Texas opened Tormenta: Rampaging Run, described as the world’s first giga dive coaster. The debut brought together local officials and tourism leaders, reflecting the connection between the operator and the Arlington community.

Despite the relocation of the main headquarters, Six Flags will retain a presence in other regions. The company confirmed it will maintain an office in Sandusky, Ohio. Furthermore, the operator will continue its investment in the Charlotte metropolitan area through operations at Carowinds and Carolina Harbor, with a new attraction named Rip Roarin’ Falls scheduled to open at Carowinds in 2027.

“Bringing our corporate team together in Arlington helps us run a leaner, more responsive organisation,” Reilly concluded. “Our job at the corporate level is to support our parks and park leaders and enable their success. This move is about making sure we’re best set up to serve them well. That kind of alignment matters as we execute our long-term strategy, it’s about how effectively we work, not just where we sit.”
