Eden Project Morecambe has shared new artworks depicting what the attraction could look like.
The concept is set to rejuvenate the fading Lancashire town in the UK when it opens in late 2028.
Inspired by the natural geometry, beauty, and efficiency of seashells, Eden Project Morecambe’s architecture will be easily recognisable and will serve as an emblem of sustainability with a strong link to location. It has been designed to respect and complement neighbouring heritage assets including the art deco Midland Hotel and Grade II* listed Morecambe Winter Gardens.
The newly released breathtaking imagery shows the distinctive shell-inspired structure encircled by interconnected gardens that overlook Morecambe Bay’s natural splendour.
The Eden Project Morecambe building will host magnificent living landscapes and immersive worlds filled with world-class art, performance, storytelling, interactive exhibits, and play. With Morecambe Bay having one of the world’s biggest tide ranges, natural rhythms underpin all parts of Eden Project Morecambe.

The Morecambe experience
The Eden Project Morecambe will bring together:
The Realm of the Sun is a beautiful, tropical scene from the near future in which humanity have discovered how to heal and reconnect with the natural world’s shattered cycles. Visitors will be encouraged to participate and contemplate through interactive exhibitions, living constructions, storytelling, and workshops.
The Elder Tree, a stunning 20-metre dramatic sculpture, will define the space. The Elder Tree serves as a repository of memories of former rhythms, waiting to be discovered by visitors as they move from the tree’s roots to the hollows of its upper trunk.
The Realm of the Moon is a thrilling, dark space with a hyper-real rock pool where accelerated tides, days, and seasons propel an ever-changing immersive universe packed with stories, spectacle, and discovery.
During its peak tourism season, Morecambe’s motto was ‘Beauty Surrounds and Health Abounds’. The project has ambitious environmental, social, and economic goals, but most importantly, it will be a day out that stimulates awe and connection with nature.

Eden around the world
Eden Project has recently stepped out of its comfort zone of South West England. It was responsible for creating the ‘green centrepiece’ of Terra, the sustainability pavilian at Dubai Expo 2020.
There are many other ‘Edens’ in the pipeline.
- The first Eden Project site to be announced outside Cornwall was Eden Project Qingdao. This is set to be themed around water, showing that it is the lifeblood of civilization, nature and culture.
- Eden Project Dundee is set to transform the Scottish city. It is set to play a key role in regenerating the urban waterfront with a design reflective of its rich history.
- On the other side of the world, Eden Project Anglesea is a brand new concept for a world-class attraction. It is set to be located on a former coal mine in Australia.
