Liseberg, the popular Swedish amusement park, is preparing to launch a brand new family attraction in its next summer season.
Stormvåg, translated as Storm Wave, will be the Gothenburg park’s new family thrill addition opening mid-2026. This new ride, a Wild Swing XL model, will be a taller, faster, and more thrilling version of the standard format. The ride occupies a 14×15 metre footprint, with a height of 14.5 metres (48 feet).
It will occupy the area formerly home to the iconic Kristallsalongen mirror maze. Located between the Fisketuren and Jukebox flat rides, it will add to the park’s popular West Coast area. The area surrounding the ride will also be upgraded with new restrooms and locker storage.
Liseberg’s VP of Operations, Kenneth Berndtsson, says the new ride offers a classic thrill with a modern twist. “Stormvåg is a bit reminiscent of the classic Topspin ride, but here the whole family can ride together. It’s got just the right amount of thrill to spark spontaneous laughter. It’s simply a ride that makes you really happy.”
A Thrill for the Whole Family
Stormvåg, one of the first attractions of its kind, will be situated along the Liseberg riverbank and will feature a charming boatyard theme. The addition of Stormvåg is the next step in the park’s long-term plan to enhance the guest experience in the West Coast area, which began with the opening of Kaninlandet in 2013.
The ride is being manufactured by German firm Art Engineering and features a ride capacity of 24 guests. The height requirement will be 105 cm for children riding with an adult. The ride’s theming and concept were developed by Alex Korting, Themed Entertainment Design, and David Schofield, Creative Director at Liseberg.
Liseberg’s CEO, Andreas Andersen, says the new attraction will bridge the gap between different areas of the park. “The entire area is getting a much-anticipated upgrade, and the attraction itself becomes the perfect bridge between Kaninlandet and our more thrilling rides. Stormvåg is a key piece in the continuous development of the park and Liseberg’s overall appeal.”
