The Walt Disney Company has announced a new immersive flight experience, set to open on both US coasts.

The new film attractions, to be titled Soarin’ Across America, will be opened at existing flying theatre venues at both EPCOT in Walt Disney World Resort, Florida and Disney California Adventure park in Disneyland Resort. The revamped experiences will be the centrepiece of a new nationwide celebration for America’s 250th anniversary, opening Summer 2026.

The beloved Soarin’ attraction will be reimagined to take guests on a breathtaking journey over some of the United States’ most stunning natural landscapes and iconic cityscapes. According to the company, the experience will retain all the signature elements that make the attraction a fan favourite, including the unique flight sensation, sweeping visuals, a moving musical score, and even immersive scents. Walt Disney Imagineering is currently in production, capturing footage of more than a dozen new locations for the updated flight path.

A semiquincentennial celebration

This new attraction is a key component of the company’s “Disney Celebrates America” initiative, a multi-faceted celebration running from Veterans Day 2025 through the July 4, 2026, weekend. The initiative aims to leverage Disney’s storytelling platforms to honour the nation’s history and inspire its future.

“At its heart, America’s story is one of imagination, ambition, and possibility – the same ideals that have guided Disney since the beginning,” said Robert A. Iger, Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company. “This celebration honours both a nation and a spirit that never stops dreaming about what’s next.”

The “Disney Celebrates America” event will culminate on the July 4th holiday weekend in 2026 with a 24-hour, multi-platform broadcast highlighting anniversary events across the country. The broadcast will air across Disney’s extensive network, including Disney+ , ESPN and ABC, and will conclude with a special live fireworks presentation from both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort.
