The European leisure and attractions industry is preparing to gather in the UK this autumn as a major trade event returns to the capital.
Industry professionals from across Europe and beyond will descend on London this autumn to explore upcoming trends, network, and discover new concepts across the guest experience sector.
Registration is now officially open for IAAPA Expo Europe 2026, which will take place from 21 to 25 September 2026 at ExCeL London. This marks the event’s return to the British capital after a four-year absence.
The exhibition has experienced a 50 per cent growth rate since 2022. This year, the trade show floor will span a record-breaking 21,000 square metres. More than 800 exhibitors are scheduled to showcase new options in ride technology, operational design, and guest solutions, offering attendees a direct look at development strategies within the sector.
Insights from industry leaders
Alongside the trade show floor, the event features an extensive educational programme. More than 60 education sessions will run during the week, featuring insights from over 175 industry speakers. These sessions are designed to cover core operational areas, including safety, sustainability, leadership, and the professional development of young individuals entering the industry.
A primary highlight of the schedule is the Leadership Breakfast, which features insights from Robert Dahl, the chief executive officer of Karls Erlebnis-Dorf, alongside Wouter Dekkers, the chief executive officer of Momentum Leisure. Attendees can also participate in exclusive EDUTours to regional attractions, including Chessington World of Adventures Resort and LEGOLAND Windsor Resort.

Food and beverage innovations will occupy an expanded space within both the educational programming and the main exhibition hall this year. According to benchmark studies conducted by IAAPA, food and beverage options can account for between 30 and 35 per cent of total park revenue.
The data underscores the sector’s capability to drive both the overall guest experience and broader business strategies. Consequently, the 2026 event will provide dedicated spaces and discussions looking into emerging trends and hospitality solutions for in-park dining.
Strategic influence of the UK market
Peter van der Schans, Executive Director and Vice President of IAAPA EMEA, highlighted the context of the event returning to the UK. He noted:
“Returning to London after four years is both exciting and humbling. The UK is home to IAAPA’s largest European membership base and continues to be a market with influence on indoor entertainment trends within neighbouring regions. This return reflects both the strength of the UK market and the continued growth of our event. We’re proud to come back with our largest Expo to date, creating even more opportunities for connection, collaboration, and inspiration.”
IAAPA operates as the largest international trade association for permanently located attractions, having been founded originally in 1918. The association unifies industry professionals across more than 100 countries, representing amusement parks, theme parks, water parks, resorts, zoos, museums, and suppliers. While the global headquarters is located in Orlando, Florida, IAAPA maintains several regional operations, including an office in Brussels, Belgium, to support its European members.
