An American amusement park operator has confirmed that it will be closing Fun Spot America Atlanta, one of its regional sites, this summer.
After welcoming visitors for years, Fun Spot’s Georgia location will shut its gates permanently, prompting a shift in operations towards the brand’s core sites in Florida.
Fun Spot America Theme Parks confirmed on 25 June 2026 that its Atlanta park in Fayetteville, Georgia, will cease operations. The final day for guests to visit the attraction will be 2 August 2026.
The regional amusement park has operated as part of the wider Fun Spot brand, providing a mixture of family rides, go-karts, and arcade entertainment to the local community. It is perhaps best-known for ArieForce One, a Rocky Mountain Construction roller coaster which opened three years ago. The steel IBOX coaster includes a 146-foot first drop at an 83-degree angle and a top speed of 64 m.p.h, and is notable for holding the record for the largest zero-G stall feature in America.
John Arie Jr., Chief Executive Officer of Fun Spot America, addressed the upcoming closure of Fun Spot America Atlanta in a brief statement.
“This was an extremely difficult decision,” Arie said. “Our Atlanta team has poured their hearts into serving our guests and creating a place where families could have fun together. We are deeply grateful for their dedication and for the support we have received from the Fayetteville community”.
Transition plans for staff and guests
In the lead-up to the closure, standard daily operations will continue without interruption. The park will remain open from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. every day until the 2 August closure date.
Fun Spot America management stated that they will work closely with their team members throughout this transition period. The company has committed to treating its employees with respect and will provide necessary support resources as the closure date approaches.
For regular visitors and pass holders, the company has outlined how ticketing and access will be handled over the coming weeks. Season passes and gift cards will remain fully valid at the Atlanta location until its final day of operation. Following the closure, these passes and cards will be honoured at the two remaining Fun Spot America locations.
Guests with outstanding reservations, including group events and field trips, will be contacted in the near future with further information regarding their bookings.
Focus shifts to established Florida properties
Following the closure of the Georgia site, Fun Spot America will concentrate its operations strictly on its two established Florida parks, located in Orlando and Kissimmee.
The company has grown considerably since it first opened as a small five-acre family attraction in Orlando on 24 December 1997. Over nearly three decades, the operator has expanded to encompass over 150 acres of amusement facilities across its portfolio.
The flagship Orlando site currently features 33 attractions. This lineup includes White Lightning, which operates as the only wooden roller coaster in Orlando. Meanwhile, the Kissimmee location offers 29 attractions, featuring the world’s tallest SkyCoaster and Mine Blower, a wooden roller coaster distinct for its full 360-degree barrel roll inversion.
Both Florida locations will continue to operate as normal.
Reflecting on the Atlanta park’s history, Arie added: “We are proud of the memories created in Atlanta and grateful to everyone who has been part of this chapter of our story”.
