Frontier partners with Disney on new management game

Frontier Disney theme park creation game

British video game publisher Frontier Developments has agreed a collaboration with Disney to develop an upcoming creative management simulation title.

The deal adds to the developer’s simulation portfolio, building on recent financial results and content updates across its core park-building game franchises.

Frontier will fully fund the newly announced title, drawing on its established background in the Creative Management Simulation (CMS) genre. Frontier’s existing lineup in the space includes established series such as Planet Coaster, Planet Zoo, and Jurassic World Evolution, alongside an unannounced Planet title currently in development.

Discussing the agreement, Jo Cooke, Chief Executive Officer of Frontier Developments, said: “We are delighted to announce this collaboration with Disney, which further reinforces our clearly defined strategy of developing and nurturing world-class creative management simulation game franchises. Our mission with this game is to connect a passionate creative community of players with one of the world’s most iconic and beloved brands, and I can’t wait to see what our talented teams will create with this amazing opportunity.”

The Disney announcement comes alongside ongoing post-launch support for Frontier’s popular theme park title, Planet Coaster 2. Last month, the publisher released the Silver Screen Pack add-on, expanding options for park builders with movie set scenery and studio attractions. The expansion introduces seven new rides, including the Vector New Gen Flying Coaster, the Big Screen Tour backlot ride, the Re-Motion tracked simulator, and a Cinema Room feature, all mimicking real-life counterparts. The pack also incorporates over 640 scenery items across Studios and Silver Screen themes, cinematic audio tracks, and a new entertainer character, Cornell Butterworth.

More games on the way

Frontier has also announced its full-year financial results today for FY26, published on 9 September. The company delivered record financial results, with total revenue rising 16% to £104.8m and Adjusted Operating Profit increasing 62% year-on-year to £21.4m. Net cash reserves stood at £51.4m as of 31 August 2026, leading the board to announce a £5.0m special dividend.

Frontier’s ongoing roadmap targets an average release pace of one CMS game per year. In FY27, the company plans to release Planet Zoo 2 on 13 October 2026, alongside Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Deathwatch. In FY28, Frontier remains on track to launch a new proprietary CMS title to establish a further Planet franchise.

Summarising the financial performance, Jo Cooke highlighted that FY26 demonstrated the strength of the studio’s CMS strategy and player engagement across its portfolio. As part of the annual report updates, Frontier also announced a change to its leadership structure: David Braben, founder and president of Frontier, is transitioning from his role as an Executive Director to serve as a Non-Executive Director, remaining on the UK company’s board of directors.
