Riding a wave of record attendance and prestigious industry awards, Parc Astérix has announced an ambitious €250 million investment plan.
The resort plans to solidify its position as France‘s second-largest theme park and attempt to break into the top five most visited parks in Europe by 2030.
The flagship Compagnie des Alpes destination celebrated a new milestone in 2025, welcoming nearly 3 million visitors (2.9 million). This strong performance provides the foundation for a multi-year development strategy that will introduce new themed zones, a major hotel, and significantly increase the park’s overall capacity, with a strong focus on weather-proof experiences.

A Year of Accolades
The park’s announcement follows a successful year of recognition for its recent additions. The new family attraction, Cétautomatix, was awarded the coveted ‘Top European New Attraction’ prize at the Parksmania Awards 2025. The ride, noted as Europe’s first spinning family roller coaster, was praised for its innovation and appeal.
Further honours were received at the Park World Excellence Awards 2025, where the park’s new Egyptian-themed restaurant, Les Fastes du Nil, was crowned ‘Best Food or Retail Development’. The award highlighted the restaurant’s immersive concept and the runaway success of its signature Merguez Burger, which has become a visitor favourite.
An Ambitious Roadmap to 2030
The €250 million investment will fund a comprehensive transformation of the park over the next five years. The detailed plan includes:
- 2026: Egyptian Zone Transformation: The existing Egypt area will undergo a major refurbishment. The Oxygénarium attraction will be re-themed to become The Descent of the Nile, the classic Les Chaises Volantes (Flying Chairs) will be reimagined as The Flight of Ibis, and the Le Cirque restaurant will be converted into Le Comptoir d’Epidemaïs.
- 2027: Greek Zone Expansion & New Hotel: A new section will be added to the Ancient Greece area, featuring two new family attractions, a children’s playground, and a new 450-seat restaurant, La Table de Dyonisos. Also opening in 2027 is The Odyssée Hotel, a new 4-star, 300-room hotel built to High Environmental Quality (HQE) standards. The hotel’s theme will be inspired by Asterix and Obelix’s travels to the East, with distinct areas representing Persia, Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Phoenicia.
- 2028: The Londinium Zone: A major new indoor zone themed to the Asterix in Britain comic book will debut, in conjunction with Kaeru Theme Park Design. Londinium is set to feature a major immersive roller coaster from Intamin, an interactive family dark ride, a vertical playground, a themed pub, and several retail outlets.

Strategic Impact and Future Growth
This strategic development plan is designed to significantly enhance the guest experience and the park’s operational resilience. The new additions will increase the park’s total capacity by 20%, with a crucial two-thirds of this new capacity being indoors. This move will reduce the park’s dependence on weather conditions, extending its appeal throughout the operating season.
With the opening of The Odyssée Hotel, the park’s on-site accommodation offering will grow to a total of 750 rooms, further establishing Parc Astérix as a multi-day, short-break destination.
Owned by Compagnie des Alpes, which has committed to achieving Net Zero Carbon (scope 1 and 2) by 2030, Parc Astérix’s expansion aligns with the group’s wider strategy of investing in its portfolio of high-quality leisure destinations across Europe. The ultimate goal of this ambitious plan is to achieve guest satisfaction ratings that rival the very best theme parks on the continent.
